The Senior Special Assistant to the Abia State Governor on Due Process, Dr. Oluebube A. Chukwu, has commended women for their enduring contributions to families, communities and society, describing mothers as pillars of hope, sacrifice and moral strength.

He spoke during the 2026 Mothering Sunday celebration at Grace Methodist Church, Umumeze, Jacob Achara Memorial Methodist Church, Umuaku and Methodist Church Umumeze Victory Centre, all in Umunneochi Local Government Area.
Mothering Sunday, which was observed across Methodist Church Nigeria on 15th day of March, 2026, offered church leaders and congregants the opportunity to celebrate and appreciate the invaluable role of women in nurturing families, strengthening faith and promoting social development.

Addressing the congregation during the special service, Dr Oluebube praised mothers for their resilience, compassion and commitment to building strong homes and communities. He noted that the influence of mothers extends beyond the family unit, shaping values and inspiring positive change within society.
“Mothers embody compassion, strength and devotion in their roles as wives, daughters and caregivers,” he said, adding that their contributions remain central to the progress of communities and the state at large as he re-echoed the popular aphorism, No women, No nation.

During the service at Grace Methodist Church Umumeze, the church women fellowship presented Dr. Chukwu with an award in recognition of his dedication, support and contributions to the growth of the church and its programmes. According to the church, the honour was bestowed in appreciation of his service and consistent support for initiatives that promote community development.
Responding to the recognition, Dr Oluebube expressed gratitude to the church and reiterated his admiration for mothers, urging women to remain steadfast in nurturing families, inspiring hope and contributing meaningfully to the development and transformation of society.
As part of his support for the church, he also made a cash donation towards an ongoing church project, describing the gesture as a token of appreciation for the honour and an encouragement for the church’s developmental initiatives.

In continuation of the Mothering Sunday activities, Dr. Oluebube also visited Jacob Achara Memorial Methodist Church, Umuaku Circuit and Methodist Church Umumeze Victory Centre, both within Umunneochi Local Government Area where he replicated support for the women fellowships in both churches.
The celebration ended on a joyful note as members of the Women’s Fellowship led prayers and thanksgiving, highlighting the significance of motherhood and celebrating the positive impact of women in the church and the wider society.
